Brahms' Address Book

Brahms kept the book, which he recieved from Bertha Faber around 1869 as a gift, over several years. It reflects his extensive circle of acquaintances and contacts: just to mention just a few prominent examples, the doctor and friend Theodor Billroth, Max Bruch, who entered his Berlin address himself, Hans von Bülow, Antonín Dvořák, Anselm Feuerbach, Robert Fuchs, the couple Maria und Richard Fellinger, Eduard Hanslick, Richard Heuberger, Joseph Joachim, Max Kalbeck, Brahms’ teacher Eduard Marxsen, the painter Ludwig Michalek, Hans Richter, Johann Strauss, Jr., Clara Schumann, Julius Stockhausen, Fritz Simrock, Carl Maria von Weber’s son Max Maria von Weber, and the singer Gustav Walter.
